Terms and conditions
The terms on which a gift is accepted, and what is promised about it.
Who you are giving to
Gifts made here are received by E-Sadaqah.
Gifts made here do not currently qualify for tax relief, and no receipt issued by this platform should be submitted as a claim for one. If that changes, it will be stated here and on the receipts themselves.
A gift is for the purpose it was given
Each kind of giving is held in its own fund and spent only on what that kind of giving may be spent on. Where you choose a specific cause, the gift goes to that cause.
If a cause raises more than it needs
Where a cause reaches its target and money remains, what happens next follows the choice you made when giving, where you were offered one, and otherwise the rule published on that cause. Obligations such as Zakat and Fidya are never moved to a purpose they may not fund.
Gifts are not usually returnable
Once a gift has been received it is charitable money and is treated as such. If you gave in error — the wrong amount, or twice — tell us as soon as you can and we will look at it. The answer depends on whether the money has already been paid out.
What the calculators are, and are not
The Zakat calculator and the figures shown for Fidya, Kaffarah and Zakat al-Fitr follow published rules that have been approved before being used, and each result shows its working. They are there to help you arrive at a figure. They are not a religious ruling, and they do not replace one.
Receipts
A receipt is issued when money has actually been received — never on the strength of a payment having been started. Each one carries a number that anyone can use to confirm it is genuine.
Organisations receiving gifts
An organisation is checked against its registration and its own documents before it can receive anything through this platform. Until that check is complete it is not shown as verified and nothing is credited to it.
Payments
No payment provider is connected to this platform at present, so no payment can be taken here. Any gift you record now is a statement of intent and will be settled by whatever means we agree with you directly.
