Privacy
What is recorded when you give, why it is recorded, and what you can ask us to do about it.
You can give without an account
No account is created for you when you give, and none is required. If you give without one, what we hold is the gift itself and the details you chose to attach to it.
What is recorded when you give
- The amount, which fund it is for, and the cause you chose.
- A reference, so the gift can be found again.
- Any name you entered, including a name you are giving on behalf of.
- Contact details, only where you supplied them so we could send a receipt or reply.
- A scrambled form of your network address, which cannot be turned back into the original.
Card numbers are never recorded here. When card payment opens, the card details go to the payment provider and this platform receives only what it needs to recognise the payment.
Giving anonymously
You can mark a gift as anonymous. An anonymous gift shows no name anywhere a visitor can see it — not on the cause, not in any list, and not on any published report.
Verifying a receipt reveals nothing about you
Anyone holding a receipt number can confirm the document is genuine. That check confirms only that the receipt exists and matches: it does not disclose who gave, how much, or anything else.
Why we keep what we keep
Charitable money has to be accounted for. Records of gifts and of the payments made from them are kept because an organisation that cannot show where donated money went cannot be held to account for it — and being held to account is the point of this platform.
That means a gift record is not deleted on request in the way a mailing list entry would be. Your personal details can be removed from it, leaving the financial record intact without naming you.
What you can ask for
- A copy of what we hold about you.
- A correction, where something is wrong.
- Removal of your personal details from past gifts.
- An end to any messages you agreed to receive.
Asking us
Use the contact page. A published address for privacy requests will appear here once it is in place.
